Religious Education Program


Parent Agreement and Responsibilities


To register my child in the religious education program, I am aware, and I agree with all the points described in detail here.

 1. ATTENDENCE AND PARTICIPATION

  • I am the first person responsible for the growth and education in the faith of my child.
  • I will be interested and collaborate with the catechists from the very beginning of the year, and I will be in regular contact with them, so I can stay informed about the progress of my child.
  • I will participate with my child in Mass, especially on Sundays. I am aware that class does not finish until the end of Mass. Because of this, I will not pick up my child until the end of Mass.
  • I will participate in the different events and special meetings (for example, meetings with parents and godparents, rosary services, parties, processions, etc.). I know such events are required of me and my child.
  • I promise that my child and I will be on time for classes and other events. I know that:
  • 2 late arrivals will be considered an absence.
  • Whoever has 5 absences will have to repeat the year.
  • If my child misses Mass, it will be considered an absence. If, for some reason, my child cannot go to the Mass immediately after class, I will have to get special permission from the Religious Education office.
  • If my child misses a class, for whatever reason, I promise to study that lesson with him/her and prepare my child for the quiz or test the catechist will give for the lesson missed.
  • I will review and sign the attendance sheet each week. This will help me to know the weekly progress of my child.
  • My child must learn the prayers that correspond to his/her level in the catechetical program which is more fully described on the reverse side of the attendance sheet.
  • I am invited to attend adult faith formation for parents each year.

 2. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • I will take charge and be held responsible for the behavior of my child and for any damages that he/she might cause to other persons or to property. I promise to make any personal or material reparations necessary.
  • I will complete and sign the medical emergency form. In case of a medical emergency, I will be responsible for any medical treatment my child must receive.
  • I understand that my child will probably be required to attend special programs outside of the regular class times, both within and outside the parish: outings, social gatherings, retreats, community service hours, etc. I will be notified in advance in writing about these programs, and whether they are optional or required.

3.AGE

  • I agree that my child must be at least 6 years old or in the 1st grade in order to register for the religious education program.
  • To receive First Communion, my child must be at least 8 years old and in the 2nd grade.
  • After my child receives First Communion, I am encouraged to register him/her for continuing catechesis (“perseverancia”) since it is very important to continue with the growth of his/her faith.
  • To register my child for the 1st year of the Confirmation program, my child must be 12 years old or in the 7th grade.
  • I understand that my child must be 14 years old or completing the 8th grade in order to receive Confirmation.
  • After my child receives Confirmation, I am encouraged to enroll him/her I the programs for high school students at St. John Bosco.

4. SPECIAL CLASSES

 It has been communicated to me and I agree that:

  • Children 6 years and older who have not been baptized must attend the 2 years of religious education for their First Communion. During their first year, they must also attend a special class each month that will help prepare them for Baptism. In addition to the special Baptism class, they are required to attend the special rites for those to be baptized (the catechumens.) At the end of their first year, they will receive Baptism.
  • Children who are in the 7th or 8th grade and have not yet received their First Communion and Confirmation will enter a special program for adolescents called RICTeens, commonly called catechumen for adolescents. Promptly you will receive a special date for a meeting if this is your case.
  • Those who are 17 years of age on or before MARCH 2019 and have not yet received one or all the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, First Communion or Confirmation) must register for the RCIA program (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, sometimes called the Catechumenate of Adults).The RCIA program lasts for 2 years.
  • Even if the person has attended or will attend an evangelization retreat, he/she must still complete the basic catechesis program. In addition, he/she must participate in the special liturgical rites of the catechumenate.
  • If my child has difficulty memorizing or other problems learning, I will register him/her for tutoring. If the child has an IEP (Individual Education Program), the parent must bring a copy to be filed on the child’s records.
  • If my child has a disability or a special need, I will register him/her to the SPRED program.

 5. NECESSARY DOCUMENTS

  • For first-time registrations at St. John Bosco:
  • Everyone is required to provide a recent baptism certificate when they first register for religious education, regardless of the level or program. This includes adults who are preparing for First Communion and Confirmation.
  • If you are coming from another parish where your child has studied, in addition to a recent baptism certificate, you must present a transfer letter or proof of the level of education the child has passed.
  • If your child has already participated in a class at St. John Bosco Parish:
  • He/she must have passed the class to advance.
  • He/she must have learned all the prayers that correspond to that level of religious education.
  • You must have given the office the child’s baptism certificate. (If not yet baptized, then you must present a birth certificate.)
  • You must have paid in full the tuition and fees from the previous year.
  • You must give proof of having complegted the first level of adult formation (Grupo 34, Evangelization Retreat or their equivalent)
  • If your child has already been in the religious education program at St. John Bosco but left, he/she must remain for 2 consecutive years in classes in order to receive a sacrement or present a justification/excuse for having left and pass the exams for that level.

6.GODPARENTS/SPONSERS

I understand it is necessary to choose godparents for Baptism and Confirmation, but it is not for First Communion. When choosing godparents, I must take into account that fact that:

  • The godparents must attend the godparent meetings. I must choose the godparents well in advance so that they can be notified of the required meetings.
  • The godparents must be living in the grace of God. If they are married, they must be married by the Catholic Church. If they are single, they must be living according to Christian principles, not in a free union.
  • The godparent must be 16 years or old, must be Catholic and must have received Baptism, Confirmation and First Communion (the Initiation Sacraments). Parents cannot be godparents for their own children.
  • A more thorough explanation and list of requirements for godparents can be found on the “Godparent / Sponsor Commitment Form.”

 7.FEES

The processing fee is $20.00, this fee IS NON-REFUNDABLE, and is included in the total tuition fee.

  • The annual tuition will be:
  • $ for 1 person
  • $ for 2 people in the same immediate family
  • $ for 3 people or more in the same immediate family

NOTE: The family tuition fee only applies to children that are brothers/sisters, children from the same mother and/or father.

  • I understand that a $20.00 penalty fee will be added for late registrations. Late registrations will be July 30th and 31st.
  • My child will not receive a pass to class if I not have paid the entire tuition or have not met all the requirements.
  • If I have a problem paying, I must come to an agreement with the CRE Felicitas Santillan about how to make my payments. If I don’t make an arrangement with her, I will have to pay a $10.00 late fee for every month I get behind with my payments.

If I decide that my child will not attend classes at St. John Bosco, I may ask for a tuition reimbursement before September 9, 2018. The $20.00 processing fee will deducted from what I have paid.


Please note: Parents and godparents are expected to contribute regularly to the support of St. John Bosco Parish through the Sunday collection. They are also expected to participate in the fund-raising activities of the religious education program and the parish, for example: the annual kermes, the Gratitude Dinner and the Don Bosco Fest.

  • Prayer Books $2.00 each.
  • For an attendence sheet replacement $5.00


2nd Year First Communion Groups 


  • Sacramental Fee for First Communion $10.00 per child, $15.00 for two siblings and 20.00 for three or more siblings. 
  • 1st Communion Retreat (for food)        $10.00 per participant                $15.00 for two participants           $20.00 for three or more participants 


Pre-Confirmation Groups 


  • Pre-Confirmation Retreat "Holy Fire"$45.00


2nd Year Confirmation Groups 


  • Sacramental Fee for Confirmatiom $10.00 per child, $15.00 for two siblings and $20.00 for three or more siblings.
  • Confirmation Gown (Rental) $10.00
  • Confirmation Retreat $45.00 (For food and material during the 3 days) 

Procedures 

How to excuse Absences 

1.To excuse an absence from class or religious education activity

  • Must call BOTH catechist and the religious education office. 
  • Must give full name of the child, the date of the absence, his/her class and catechist name.

2.The following week:

  • At the office ask for the sheet to excuse adsences and fill it out.
  • Take it to your child's catechist to sign it 
  • Bring it back to the office, so the absence can be marked as excused.

3.Speak with the catechist about what you child missed, so he/she can make up the work.

Requesting a New Attendence Sheet 


If your child's attendence sheet is lost, please call the religious education office. Give your child's name and his/her class. You can pick up the new attendence sheet the following week.       NOTE: To receive the new attendence sheet , you must pay the $5.00 penalty. 


Requesting Transfers, Letters of Attendence or Other Documents


If you need transfer letters or other documents, please call the religious education office. Give the necessary information (child's name, class, document you are requesting, etc.) Also include the date you will come to pick up the document.

ACUERDOS Y RESPONSABILIDADES


AL INSCRIBIR A MI HIJO(A) EN LA CATEQUESIS SOY CONCIENTE Y ESTOY DE ACUERDO CON LOS ENUNCIADOS DESCRITOS A CONTINUACION.

1. ASISTENCIA Y PARTICIPACION

  • Soy el primer responsable del crecimiento y aprendizaje de la fe de mi hijo(a).
  • Debo interesarme y colaborar con los catequistas desde el inicio del curso, y estaré en contacto con ellos para informarme del progreso que tenga mi hijo(a).
  • Debo de participar junto con mi hijo(a) en la Misa, especialmente el Domingo, y soy conciente de que la catequesis no termina hasta que se termina la Misa. Por lo cual recogeré a mi hijo hasta el final de la Misa.
  • Estaré pendiente de participar en los diferentes eventos y reuniones especiales (tales como reuniones de padres de familia y padrinos, rosarios, fiestas, peregrinaciones, etc.), a los que tenga que asistir yo o mi hijo(a).
  • Me comprometo a que mi hijo(a) y yo asistiremos con puntualidad a las sesiones de catequesis, sabiendo que:
  • Dos llegadas tarde a clase se convertirán en una falta.
  • Quienes falten a cinco encuentros repetirán el curso.
  • Si mi hijo falta a Misa será y se contará como falta a la clase. Si por algún motivo mi hijo no asiste a Misa tendré que obtener un permiso especial de la oficina de Educacion Religiosa.

NOTA: Las ausencias deben ser justificadas con una nota del doctor, o como otra alternativa, una nota escrita por el padre/tutor que registro a su hijo(a) en nuestro programa de Educación Religiosa.

  • Si mi hijo falta por algún motivo a la catequesis, me comprometo a estudiar con el/ella la lección correspondiente y prepararlo(a) para la evaluación que harán de esta lección los catequistas.
  • Firmaré y revisaré la hoja de control donde se me hará saber semanalmente de su progreso. 
  • Mi hijo (a) deberá de aprender las oraciones correspondientes para su nivel de catequesis y de acuerdo con el programa que está descrito al revés de la hoja de control.
  • Estoy obligado a asistir cada año a la catequesis para padres de familia. 

2. RESPONSABILIDADES

  • Me haré cargo y responsable de la conducta de mi hijo(a) y de los posibles daños que pueda hacer en las personas o en las instalaciones donde se lleve a cabo la catequesis. Lo cual significa que me comprometo a hacer, si es necesario, las reparaciones personales o materiales correspondientes.
  • En caso de alguna emergencia médica me haré responsable de la atención médica que pueda recibir mi hijo. Para lo cual llene y firme la forma de atención médica.
  • Entiendo que mi hijo probablemente SERA REQUERIDO para programas especiales fuera del horario regular de clases dentro y fuera de las instalaciones de la parroquia, como por ejemplo: paseos, convivencias, excursiones, retiros, horas de servicio comunitario, etc. Seré notificado con anterioridad y de ser necesario por escrito.

5. DOCUMENTOS NECESARIOS 

  • Estoy de acuerdo en que la edad minima para inscribir a mi hijo en la catequesis es de 6 años o/y cuando este en primer grado de primaria.
  • La edad mínima para hacer su primera comunion es 8 años cumplidos y/o estra en segundo grado de primeria. 
  • Despues que mi hijo(a) haya recibido su Primer Comunion, es muy importante el seguimiento de la fe y por eso se me invita a que permanezca el/ella en ka catequesis, registrándolo al grupo de perseverancia.
  • Para inscribir a mi hijo(a) en el primer año de confirmacion deberá de tener 12 años y/o estar en 7 grado de primaria.
  • Entiendo que la edad mínima para recibir el sacramento de la Confirmación es de 14 años cumplidos y/o estar en 8 grado de primaria. 
  • Después que mi hijo(a) haya recibido su Confirmación, se le invitará a que participe en los programas de adolescentes. 

Se me ha comunicado y estoy de acuerdo que:

  • Los niños mayores de 6 años que no estén bautizados deberán permanecer dos años en la catequesis para recibir la Primera Comunión, al terminar el primer año recibirá su Bautismo. Deberan asistir a clases especiales para prepararse para el bautismo. Ademas, asistiran a las ceremonias correspondientes al catecumenado. Al terminar el segundo año recibiran la Primera Comunion.
  • Quienes estan en 7-12 grado de la escuela y no han recibido la Primera Comunion y Confirmacion, entraran a un programa especial de adolescentes llamado RICTeens, comunmente llamado catecumenado para adolescentes. Proximamente recibira un citatorio para una reunion especial si esta en este caso.
  • Quienes cumplen 17 años de edad antes de Marzo del 2020 y les falta uno de los sacramentos de Iniciacion (Primera Comunion o Confirmacion) deberan inscribirse a EPSA (Educacion Pre-Sacramental de Adultos) con duracion de un año o si les faltan 2 o mas Sacramentos de Iniciacion (Bautismo, Primera Comunion y Confirmacion) deberan inscribirse al programa de RICA (Rito de Iniciacion Cristiana de Adultos) comunmente llamado Catecumenado de Adultos con una duracion de dos años.
  • Ademas, debera asistir a los eventos especiales para el Catecumenado.
  • Si mi hijo tiene problemas para la memorizacion o el aprendizaje lo inscribire en clases de Tutoria. Si el/ella tiene un programa de educacion individual (IEP, por sus siglas en ingles) debera traer una copia para poder asistir a su hijo(a) mejor.
  • Si tiene alguna discapacidad o necesidad especial lo inscibire en el programa de SPRED.

Primer Ingreso:

  • Fe de Bautismo para todos los que se inscriban por primera vez en cualquier curso incluyendo adultos que van a recibir uno o varios Sacramentos de Iniciación.
  • Si viene de otra Parroquia donde ya haya estudiado, deberá presentar además de la fe de Bautismo la carta de traslado o comprobante de que aprobó el curso pasado.

SI YA PARTICIPÓ EN EL CURSO ANTERIOR (Parroquia de San Juan Bosco)

  • Deberan de hacer aprobado el curso.
  • Debera de haber aprendido las oraciones correspondientes a su nivel de catequesis.
  • Debere haber entregado la Fe de Bautismo.
  • Si ya ha estado en la catequesis Parroquial, pero salio del programa, debera permanecer dos años consecutivos para recibir algun sacramento O presentar una justificacion y pasar el examen correspondiente.

7. CUOTAS

CUOTAS EXTRAS:

Entiendo que es necesario tener padrinos para los sacramentos de bautismo y confirmacion, pero no para la Primera Comunion. Al elegirlos debere de tomar en cuenta que:

  • Los Padrinos deberan asistir a las reuniones para padrinos, escogiendolos con tiempo para que participen en los encuentros.
  • Los padrinos deberan estar viviendo en gracia de Dios, Casados por la iglesia Catolica, y no vivir una vida desordenada.
  • El padrino o madrina debe ser mayor de 16 años, ser catolico y tener el Bautismo, Confirmacion y Primera Comunion (los Sacramentos de Iniciacion). Los padres no pueden ser padrinos de sus propios hijos.
  • En la hoja de las responsabilidades para ser padrino encontrara una mejor explicacion de los requisitos. 
  • La cuota de manejo es de $20.00, esta cuota NO ES REEMBOLSABLE, está incluida en el costo total de la inscripción.
  • El costo total del curso por un año es de:
  • $135.00 por un niño
  • $210.00 por dos niños.
  • $250.00 por tres niños o más.

NOTA: La cuota por familia solo aplica si los niños(as) son hermanos.

  • TAMBIEN ENTIENDO QUE SE APLICARA UNA MULTA DE $20.00 POR INSCRIPCION TARDIA SI NO INSCRIBO A MIS HIJOS A TIEMPO.
  • No recibiré el pase a clase hasta haber cubierto el total de mi cuota y haber cumplido con todos los requisitos necesarios.
  • tengo un problema económico deberé de llegar a un acuerdo de pago con la Hermana Lourdes Ramírez, de lo contrario debo de pagar el cargo por mensualidad atrasada de $10 adicionales cada mes que se atrase.

Si decido que mi hijo(a) no se inscribirá en el catecismo deberé de pedir un reembolso antes del 9 de septiembre, 2018, y la cuota de manejo $20.00 se deducirá del total que haya pagado.

  • Libro de oraciones $2.00 c/u.
  • Arreglo del templo para la Primera Comunion                      $10.00 por niño                 $15.00 por dos hermanos           $20.00 por tres o mas hermanos.
  • Retiro de Primera Comunion para la comida $10.00 por un participante             $15.00 por dos participantes        $20.00 por tres o mas participantes 
  • Arreglo del templo para la Confirmacion  $10.00 por niño                 $15.00 por dos hermanos            $20.00 por tres o mas hermanos 
  • Tunica de Confirmacion $10.00 (Renta)
  • Retiro de Confirmacion $45.00 (Para la comida y material de 3 dias)
  • Para remplazar la hoja de asistencia $5.00

Procedimientos 

Como Justificar Las Faltas 


1.Para justificar una falta

  • Debera llamar al catequista y tambien a la oficina de la catequesis.
  • Debera de dar el nomre del niño(a), la fecha de su falta y el nomre de su catequista.


2.A la sigiuente semana de clase:

  • Pase a la oficina a llenar el comprobante de justificacion.
  • Llevelo con el catequista para que lo firme


Entreguelo a la oficina para que le sea justificada la falta.


Solicitar Una Nueva Hoja De Control 


Llame a la oficina solicitando una nueva Hoja de Control. De el nombre y la clase del niño(a). Y la nueva hoja le sera entregada una semana despues de solicitarla.                  Nota: Al recibir la hoja debera de pagar la multa de $5.00.


Solicitar Transfers, Cartas U Otros Documentos


Debera de llamra a la oficina, solicitar el documento. Debera dar la informacion que se requiere. Al llamar se le dira la fecha en la que podra recoger su documento.
